Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people with disabilities and people who browse with assistive technology. This page sets out what we have done to make the site accessible, what is not there yet, and how to reach us if you run into a problem.
How accessible the site is
We are building this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the international standard for accessible websites.
It has not yet been fully tested against them. A full check, including with a screen reader, will be done before the new site goes live, and this page will be updated with what it found.
What we have done
- The first thing the Tab key reaches on every page is a "Skip to content" link.
- Links, buttons and form fields show a clear outline when you move to them with a keyboard. The menu's groups open with Enter and close with Escape.
- Every page has one main heading, and the menu, the content and the footer are marked so that a screen reader can move between them.
- Pictures have text alternatives, and pictures that are only decoration are hidden from screen readers.
- Every form field has a label. If your name or phone number is missing when you send a form, the box turns red, says what to enter, and the cursor moves to it.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the site's animations (figures counting up, cards turning over, bars growing) are switched off or replaced with a simple fade.
- Our films never play by themselves. They start, with sound, only when you press play.
- Pages adapt to the width of your screen, from a computer to a small phone, without scrolling sideways.
- There are no time limits and no flashing content on the site.
Known limitations
- Our two short films have no captions or transcript yet. They have a voiceover throughout, so for now people who cannot hear them miss what they say.
- The site has not yet had a full accessibility check. So far it has been checked by reviewing its code and its layout at different screen sizes, not yet with an automated testing tool, a full keyboard walk-through or a screen reader.
- Other websites. Links to LinkedIn and the Information Commissioner's Office lead to websites we do not run, and their accessibility is the responsibility of the people who do.
